Our team

Here, you can familiarise yourself with the Deeds and Words core team and meet some of the people we work closely with.

Caroline Ellis

Caroline is one of the founders of Deeds and Words. Anthropologist by background, Caroline started her career in the HIV sector, working with individuals, communities and organisations to respond to a rapidly unfolding crisis.

Over the last three decades, Caroline has built on those experiences, working with a range of organisations to evolve cultures.

Ruth Hunt

Ruth is the other founder, and joined Caroline at Deeds and Words in 2019. Ruth and Caroline have worked together since 2008, initially building campaigns and interventions at Stonewall.

Ruth is a skilled communicator who can explain complex ideas to large and small audiences. She is also a natural campaigner and qualified mediator, always working to bridge divides in our fractured society.

Introduced to the House of Lords as a cross-bench peer in 2019, Ruth does her best to make the world a more inclusive place. Ruth and Caroline are partners in life as well as work.

Stacey Dale

Stacey is Deeds and Words Deputy Director. With a background of working in social housing, Stacey manages our diverse and often complex projects – but her incredible relationship-building skills are why both the wider Deeds and Words team and our clients love working with her.

April Guasp

April is our Impact and Evaluation Manager. April comes from the NGO sector and has extensive social research experience having worked with a range of public and private partners. April works with the team and our clients to put impact measurement at the heart of our approach. We want to know if our work is having a positive impact – and not just in the short term. April helps us monitor that, for you and us.

Bron wears a grey shirt, in front of an open and light stairwell with white railings and wooden beams. She has short brown hair and is wearing thin metal framed glasses. She is smiling.

Bronwen Jackson-Turner

Bron is Ruth’s Senior Parliamentary Officer and our Project Officer. With her degree in International Social and Public Policy, Bron has previously worked in the House of Lords Administration. At Deeds and Words, Bron helps our team to maintain the quality and consistency of our offering. Through proofreading and editing our materials, she makes sure we are at our best for our clients.
